Group Therapy
Group
Therapy offers a very valuable and unique experience for the participants.
Often when clients come for psychotherapy/counselling they feel that they are
quite alone in dealing with a particular issue. What group therapy offers
them is a place that they can identify with other people in similar situations,
who may be dealing with some of the same issues that they may be dealing with
themselves. Group Therapy offers participants the chance to relate and
connect with others in the group, explore and learn new social skills and to
offer each other support in dealing with personal issues.
The
facilitators provide a safe, trusting confidential environment so that
participants can explore and learn new skills in a caring and supportive
environment. A number of different therapeutic skills will be used within
the group context including, Gestalt, CBT, and Person Centred Counselling.
Groups will
generally run over 8-10 sessions; the maximum number in each
group will be 6 people with one facilitator.
